Hi, there! My name is Carlee McGuire. I am an interior design student at the University of Arkansas. This is an online portfolio that I will be updating often with work that I am proud to share. Obviously, I am passionate about design, but I also love to travel, cook, watch movies, and spend time with family and friends.
When it comes to my work, the key aspect I focus on is known as "genius loci" -- the spirit of the place. If I can capture a place's spirit through my design, I have been successful. I am inspired by color, art, my travels, culture, fashion, and the design community as a whole. I am constantly reading, sketching, and listening to anything I can in order to become a stronger designer. I wholeheartedly believe that life and everything in it is driven by design or has the power to be designed. With this outlook, I am able to soak up ideas and find inspiration in the most unexpected places. I firmly believe that design should be fun, accessible, and bring people joy, and I think my work emulates that.
